** Police motorbike collides with Ottawa ambulance;officer sustains minor injuries
UNITED STATES NEWS
** A Maine man was arrested Friday for holding an EMT against his will. That is the word from the Bangor Daily News (Stephen Betts/July 8) which quoted police as saying Rockland resident Damian Hooper, 27, has been tagged with criminal restraint. According to the newspaper, Hooper barricaded himself and the medic in a room at an area law firm around 1 p.m. Refusing to allow the practitioner to leave, he did not, however, intervene when the provider phoned police to obtain aid. Taken to Rockport’s Pen Bay Medical Center for evaluation following the incident, Hooper was transported Saturday to the Knox County Jail. He appeared in court Monday. Drugs are believed to have been involved.

The ambulance was en route to a call and unloaded at the time. There is no word on why the incident occurred. The police officer, however, sustained a broken wrist as a result of the crash. No one in the ambulance was injured.
