** Sentencing set for Ohio man convicted in off duty driving death of EMT

UNITED KINGDOM NEWS

** A Sunday attack by a patient on a West Midlands Ambulance Service medic resulted in the practitioner sustaining a head wound that required five stitches to close. That is the word from the Coventry Telegraph (Cara Simpson/June 25) which said the 29-year-old provider suffered a deep cut when a 24-year-old male attacked him around 11:15 p.m. According to the newspaper, the man was arrested and is being held on suspicion of assault. A spokesman for the ambulance service said such incidents are unacceptable. Trust head of Security and Safety Steve Elliker said criminal cases are actively pursued against those who attack EMS staff. In 2011-12, 39 people were successfully prosecuted. Penalties in those instances included custodial sentences, fines, sanctions, and community orders.
