** Texas police nab thieves attempting to sell stolen ambulance for scrap

** A pair of Montreal paramedics narrowly escaped injury Friday night after a patient fired on their vehicle, shattering several windows. CTV Montreal (March 31) said the incident, which occurred in St. Leonard around 8 p.m., played out after practitioners were hailed alongside police to deal with a person in a “disturbed” state. According to the newspaper, medics dived for cover under the EMS unit when shots rang out. An eight hour police standoff then ensued before the 60s aged man surrendered around 4 a.m. A police spokesman said charges will likely be pending following the completion of a psychiatric examination on the man. No one was injured in the melee.

** Three Houston, Texas men are in custody after attempting to sell a stolen ambulance for scrap. KTRK (Simon Gutierrez/March 29) said the trio were arrested last week after trying to seal the deal at the Texas Port Recycling Center in Conroe. According to the news station, the group is also being looked at in connection with several other heists. The news comes barely two months after a similar crime in which several other stolen ambulances were also sold. In that instance, the vehicles were crushed and compacted by the time police located them. Held without bond, the three men have been identified as Oscar Comeaux III, 35, James West, 35, and Peter Burk, 25. All three face felony theft tags.
