** Texas paramedic charged with DWI after being found unconscious at city intersection

CANADA NEWS

** A former Manitoba paramedic who tossed his hat in the ring for leadership of the Liberal Party of Canada has stepped aside. That is the word from the Winnipeg Free Press (Mia Rabson/October 3) which said Shane Geschiere, 32, made his decision after Justin Trudeau, son of the late Pierre Elliot, confirmed his bid late Tuesday. According to the newspaper, Geschiere is supporting Trudeau who is likely much more able to raise the $75,000 entry fee for the leadership race. Instead of shooting for the top Liberal job, Geschiere told the newspaper he would run for the position of MP for Provencher in the next election.
