** Virginia man set for September sentencing in felony assault of female EMT

** Registered sex offender not dubbed suspect in case of missing North Carolina combat medic

UNITED STATES NEWS

** A Virginia man is set to be sentenced in September for felony assault and battery of a Roanoke EMT. The Roanoke Times (Neil Harvey/July 16) said Chad Willie was found guilty of the February 29th crimes Friday. According to the newspaper, Willie attacked EMT/firefighter Rebecca Ruth Smith after hailing EMS to his house when he was feeling ill. Suffering several seizures in front of medics, he rapidly became combative towards them and struggled to remain off the stretcher. After threatening to break Smith’s thumb when he grabbed it, Willie then punched her in the forehead hard enough to cause a concussion. Smith vomited and was forced to leave the remaining four EMTs at the scene. Although Willie’s lawyer said medics were not right to force EMS treatment, a judge disagreed saying self defence is not a valid argument for an aggressor.

** A Fayetteville, North Carolina registered sex offender remains a person of interest in the case of a missing female Fort Bragg combat medic. That is the word from WITN (July 16) which said the man has not been dubbed a suspect in the disappearance of Kelli Bordeaux, though he is in custody for failing to report his address to police. Bordeaux disappeared April 14th after a night of clubbing at local bars. She was last known to be in the custody of the aforementioned man. Several ground searches have turned up no clues. On Saturday, her family sought to keep interest in the case alive by conducting a commemorative butterfly launch in Bordeaux’ honor. Searches continue and posters are regularly circulated in an effort to ascertain just what happened to the medic.
