** Miami Marlins and Marlins Park to be served by electric ambulances

CANADA NEWS

** A Lindsay, Ontario ambulance sustained minor damage Saturday after St. Patrick’s Day revelers lobbed beer bottles at the rig. That is the word from Mykawartha.com (March 19) which said yobs also tossed items at cops responding to an out of control house party. According to the news site, no one was injured in the melee. A rough count on the size of the mob put those gathered at around 300 people.

UNITED STATES NEWS

** Ambulance responses at Miami’s Marlins Park will see electric vehicles function as EMS units. Local 10 News (March 20) said three cars have been outfitted for prehospital response. They will join 23 other vehicles used at the site for equipment carrying and maintenance. According to the news organization, the ambulances cost around $25,000 each, while the other cars range from $12,000 to $20,000 each. Most of the expenditure is being born by the county, but the Miami Marlins are expected to contribute funds as well. The electric cars can go 60 miles before battery recharges are required.
