** Ohio EMS service strategizing on bedbugs

** UK man jailed after exposing himself to paramedics

UNITED STATES NEWS

** Ohio EMS brass in Columbus are attempting to work out a plan to deal with bedbugs. That is the word from the Associated Press (February 24) which said medics are increasingly concerned that bedbugs may spread to other locales if picked up from an infested patient. Along with worrying about transferring the critters to someone else inside the EMS unit, practitioners are also fretting over the possibility of bringing the bugs into their own homes, stations, or businesses they visit. Fire Chief Kevin Reardon said the department currently heat dries suspect uniforms. However, he added that managers are strategizing to see if improvements can be made on the approach.

UNITED KINGDOM NEWS

** A Stratford man who exposed himself to attending paramedics and made lewd comments to them has been jailed for 18 months. The Ham & High (Ben Bloom/February 24) said Lithuanian born Mikalcayunas Raimonadas, 48, was sentenced last week for the December 23, 2011 offence. According to the newspaper, Raimonadas, who has two previous rape convictions to his record, was treated by EMS after being found drunk and unconscious on a local library’s steps. After rousing, he became abusive to the providers, requesting sexual favors from them. He then pulled his pants down.
