** Kansas man accused in combat medic’s death now charged with raping woman

** A New South Wales man has been charged with assault after allegedly biting a paramedic trying to attend him Tuesday night. That is the word from ABC (February 23) which said the Wentworth patient hailed EMS after punching in a window and cutting his arm. According to the newspaper, the 19-year-old tried to take a chunk out of the medic’s arm. The practitioner was, however, not injured.

** A Kansas man charged with the last summer beating death of a former US Army combat medic has also been tagged with raping a 57-year-old woman in 2010. WIBW (February 22) said Justin Taylor, 25, who is set to face trial April 10th in the murder of Kevin Cockrum, 31, has remained in a Riley County Jail while the first court case progresses. There is no word on when the rape charge will come to trial or what information led to his arrest. The case involving Cockrum’s August 11, 2011 death, however, centres around Taylor’s alleged beating of the medic outside a Manhattan Aggieville bar. Cockrum died the following day from severe head injuries. A father of five, he had served two tours in Iraq and had received two Purple Hearts.
