** Emergency workers in Portland, Oregon are mourning the loss of paramedic/firefighter Nathan “Nate” Turner, 30, who died Sunday in a rock climbing accident. The Columbian (John Branton/July 25) said Turner, who fell around 5:30 p.m. from Beacon Rock, was with a climbing partner and rappelling down the South Corner at the time. According to the newspaper, he plunged some 100 feet from the site located along the Columbia River. Officials say they do not yet know how the accident occurred.

** Arraignment for two men suspected of beating California paramedic Bryan Stow at Dodger Stadium has been delayed until August 10. That is the word from the Orange County Register (July 25) which said Rialto residents Louie Sanchez, 29, and Marvin Norwood, 30, remain in jail pending the posting of a $500,000 bail. The pair, who first appeared in court Monday, have been charged with mayhem, assault with means likely to cause great bodily injury, and battery with serious bodily injury.
