** Off duty North Carolina paramedic killed in motorcycle crash

** Funeral services set for Saskatchewan paramedic

** Funeral services were held yesterday for an Granville, North Carolina paramedic who died Tuesday in an off duty motorcycle crash. WRAL (July 13) said Merle Faucette was killed around 7:30 a.m. near Oxford when his bike collided with a northbound Ford Focus. According to the newspaper, the car had crossed the center line, sparking the impact. The 63-year-old driver has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle after falling asleep at the wheel. Facuette, who was en route to hospital to urge doctors to DNR his 91-year-old mother who had suffered a heart attack, succumbed at the scene.

** Funeral services in memory of deceased Canora, Saskatchewan paramedic Byron BJ Chayesky have been set for today and Tuesday respectively. Today’s remembrance will take place at 2 p.m. in Canora, while the Tuesday memorial will occur at 1 p.m. at the Didsbury Arena in Didsbury. EMS personnel are asked to don dress or work uniforms, if attending. An honour guard has been organized. Chayesky, who went missing on July 8, was discovered dead the following Sunday. Foul play is not suspected.
