** Florida combat medic killed in Afghanistan

** Ohio EMT shot and killed during late night domestic dispute

** Funeral arrangements are pending for a Florida combat medic killed last week in Afghanistan. The Orlando Sentinel (Keona Gardner/July 7) said US Army Spc. Jordan Christopher Schumann, 24, was killed Tuesday when the Humvee he was in rolled over an improvised explosive device. Described as an upbeat personality dedicated to his Christian faith, Schumann’s surviving wife is expecting their first child this September.

** Ohio police in St. Louisville are investigating the July 1st shooting death of an area EMT. The Mount Vernon News (Chuck Martin/July 7) said Lily Dawn Pressley-Claggett died after sustaining a bullet wound during a domestic dispute. According to the newspaper, Pressley-Claggett was shot while she was driving her car on the Ohio 586 highway. Her father Michael Collins, 56, and her sister Melissa Kramer, 28, were in pursuit. Police say both vehicles exchanged gunfire. An occupant in Pressley-Claggett’s car was also shot during the 10:30 p.m. incident. Collins, who has been charged with possessing a weapon under disability, is expected in court tomorrow for a preliminary hearing. He remains in jail on a $50,000 bond. Further charges in relation to Pressley-Claggett’s death could be forthcoming. Funeral services, meanwhile, are pending.
