** Massachusetts medic murdered in home

** Teenaged son of California paramedic to scale Mount Everest

UNITED STATES NEWS

** Massachusetts police in Granby have said the March 29 suspicious death of a female paramedic was murder. WCVB (April 2) quoted police as saying American Medical Response (AMR) practitioner Annamaria Rintala, 37, was strangled. Rintala was found dead in the home she shared with her gay partner and child around 7:20 p.m. Authorities have said because the investigation is continuing, no arrests have yet been made.

** The 13-year-old son of a California paramedic is apparently about to tackle Mount Everest. That is the word from The Whig Standard (Thane Burnett/QMI Agency/April 7) which said Jordan Romero, along with medic father Paul Romero and the latter’s girlfriend, will head to Nepal via Hong Kong on Monday. According to the newspaper, the Romeros, accompanied by three sherpas, will tackle the summit over a one month period. Already noted in the record books as the youngest climber to reach Mount Kilimanjaro’s top, Romero has also reached the summit of Mount McKinley in Alaska. Expecting to deal with -73 degree Celsius temperatures while on the mountain, as well as excessively thin air, Jordan said his family just wants to help him make his mountain climbing dreams come true. The cost of his current aspiration is running the Romero’s in excess of $150,000.
