** Old age pensioner in UK trapped in ambulance for 30 minutes

SOUTH AFRICA NEWS

** Police in Roodeport have arrested two more men connected with the rape of an area paramedic March 5. The Pretoria News (March 31) said the duo was taken into custody Wednesday morning around 1 a.m. in Orange Farm, south of Johannesburg. According to the newspaper, the pair joins a third man who was arrested for the crime March 19. All three are believed to have taken part in the Durban Deep rape of one female medic and the attempted rape of her partner. The practitioners were called to the area to treat a small child who had suffered burn wounds. The child, who was not harmed in the attack, was transported to hospital shortly after the incident.

UNITED KINGDOM NEWS

** A Gloucestershire woman is crying foul after being trapped in an ambulance for thirty minutes while seeking hospital treatment for a broken pelvis. This is Gloucestershire (March 31) said Daphne Hurdle, 72, began her ordeal once she arrived via EMS transport at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. According to the newspaper, stuck ambulance doors prevented medics from unloading her, forcing one practitioner to kick the passage open. A suggestion to seek fire assistance for extrication was apparently rejected as too costly. Pained by the vibration created by the medic’s actions, as well as by her pelvis, Hurdle waited a further 30 minutes in the ER once she was removed from the vehicle. A spokesman for the Great Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust said the matter would only be investigated after a formal complaint had been filed.
