** Fargo, North Dakota medic runs across state to raise awareness for Operation Christmas Child
** Ottawa’s EMS chief lobbies for medic at airport
UNITED STATES NEWS
** A Fargo paramedic is running across North Dakota to raise awareness for Operation Christmas Child. That is the word from the New Salem Journal (November 8) which said Wade Mitzel, who began his jaunt on October 25, will journey 360 miles. Expecting to complete his run Saturday in Fargo, Wade told the newspaper he has averaged about 20-30 miles each day. Operation Christmas Child, operated by Samaritan’s Purse, provides gift filled shoeboxes for needy children around the world. For more information, see Wade’s website at http://myspace.ideaone.com/~nascarnole/runacrossnd.htm
** The head of Ottawa’s paramedic service is lobbying for a paramedic to be placed on duty at the city’s airport. CFRA (Josh Pringle/November 7) quoted EMS Chief Anthony DiMonte as saying the position should be jointly supported by the City and the Ottawa International Airport. A 2005 pilot project did, in fact, have a provider on duty at the site. However, a lack of funding cancelled the undertaking.
