** Iowa EMT pleads guilty to drunken jaunt

** Update – New York EMT succumbs to crash injuries

UPDATE – ** A Lake Carmel, New York EMT, critically injured Wednesday in a Garrison ambulance crash, has died. The Journal News (Terrence Corcoran/November 8) said Matthew Lamb, 25, succumbed Thursday morning at the Westchester Medical Center. Lamb, who worked for the Empire State Ambulance Corporation in Fishkill, donated his organs. Remembered as an energetic person, he was also a member of the Carmel Volunteer Fire Department. Fellow EMT and driver of the unit Jonathan Romero, 27, remains in hospital. According to the newspaper, police believe Romero fell asleep at the wheel just prior to the crash.

** An Iowa medic has pleaded guilty to a charge of speeding, after doing a series of drunken figure eights in his service’s parking lot. The Des Moines Register (Clark Kauffman/November 7) said Des Moines worker Paul Engman, who was given the boot following the June 22 incident, was arrested by police after security guards alerted them to his activities. According to the newspaper, Engman took to his vehicle after aborting an attempt to give give himself an IV to eliminate alcohol from his system. As per a plea agreement, he was fined only $20.
