Police gave chase, eventually stopping the vehicle with a spike belt. Names of the pair arrested have not been released.
UNITED STATES NEWS
** A former Austin, Texas paramedic, currently on trial for intoxication manslaughter with a deadly weapon (2) in the death of two people, says she has no memory of the accident. The Austin American-Statesman (Jazmine Ulloa/February 6) said Terri Elmore took the stand Thursday. Elmore told the court she was only now hearing details of what allegedly happened in the November 2011 crash that killed Pastor Ernest Boyett and his wife Barbara. According to the newspaper, Elmore told jurors she was comatose for four days following the wreck in which she suffered internal bleeding and broken bones in her face, collar area, and back. Elmore also said she had suffered fainting spells since childhood and had had one just days prior to the crash. Prosecutors, however, countered Elmore’s medical explanation for the accident with bar receipts indicating she had, in fact, had four beers prior to getting behind the wheel that night. A verdict on the case is expected this week.
