** Trial set for Nova Scotia paramedic accused of sexually assaulting female patients
** Funeral held for off-duty West Virginia medic killed in weekend car crash

** The trial for a Kentville, Nova Scotia paramedic, accused of sexually assaulting female patients, has been set for September 29 to October 3rd of this year. That is the word from the Chronicle Herald (Gordon Delaney/February 11) which said James Duncan Keats, 48, entered his not guilty plea via his lawyer in provincial court Tuesday. According to the newspaper, Keats has been tagged with sexual assault x 7 and breach of trust x 7. All charges relate to incidents involving six different women between 24 and 71-years-of age. Keats, who has worked as a paramedic since 1995, remains under house arrest.

** Funeral services were held yesterday for a West Virginia EMT/firefighter killed this past Saturday in an off duty car wreck. 58 WCHS (February 12) said the commemoration for Clendenin resident Nathan Allen Smith, 29, drew mourners from across the state. Smith, who worked for Kanawha County Ambulance Service was also a lieutenant with the volunteer fire department. He had additionally served in Afghanistan with the state’s air national guard.
