** More than 30 communities in rural Indiana will have EMS services pulled within 60 days. That is the word from the Associated Press (August 18) which said the Rural Metro Corporation decision is related to low call volumes in rural areas, as well as paltry Medicaid reimbursement rates. According to the newspaper, the company will continue to provide prehospital care in higher call volume areas. Operating in 21 states, Rural Metro currently serves 700 communities.
