** Florida man charged after attacking EMT, issuing bomb threat
** New York man jailed for flying air ambulances under fake names
UNITED STATES NEWS
** A Deltona, Florida man has been charged with battery on an emergency medical technician after punching the practitioner in the throat Friday at an area bank. MyNews13 (October 3) said Matthew Osborne, 31, who also allegedly issued bomb threats against an area school, was taken into custody shortly after the attack. According to the newspaper, EMS was originally hailed after he complained of chest pains and shortness of breath. Upon hospital arrival, police realized he was the bomb hoaxer as well. A trace on his phone and a search warrant for the device led to his call history. Along with the above mentioned charge, Osborne will also be tagged with making a false bomb report and disrupting an education institution. The latter relates to the emergency evacuation of Pine Ridge High School after the threat was called in.
** A Sacramento, California man was convicted Thursday of aggravated identity theft after he flew both air ambulances and news choppers under false names. That is the word from the Associated Press (October 4) which said Skaneateles resident John Michael Dial, 58, will serve two years in federal prison. According to the news service, Dial, who originally hailed from New York, used the names of real people to pull off his ruse. He flew 63 times without a legit pilot’s licence in 2011 for a Susanville, California air ambulance company. He also worked for an air ambulance operation in New York. His news flying exploits occurred between 2009-2012 in both San Francisco and Sacramento. Along with using fake names, Dial also forged a US passport.
