** Ontario man sentenced to life for murdering EMS dispatcher wife

CANADA NEWS

** An Ontario man from Burlington has been sentenced to life in prison for shooting and killing his EMS dispatcher wife on August 21, 2019. That is the word from The Burlington Post (David Lea/October 30) which said Kenneth Soederhuysen, 58, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Friday in the death of Laura Grant. According to the newspaper, Soederhuysen killed Grant in the backyard of their rural home after a domestic incident. Police say the marriage had been rocked by alcohol abuse on both sides, as well as infidelity and financial problems. On the day of the killing, Soederhuysen said Grant was drunk and verbally abusive. After getting a shotgun from his home office, he shot her once in the arm and then in the back. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Parole eligibility for Soederhuysen was set at 14 years.
