CANADA NEWS

** To meet the rising demand for COVID-19 testing, Alberta has put out a help hail for paramedics and other health care workers to assist in doing the swabbing. That is the word from CTV News (October 1) which said Alberta Health Services is looking for approximately 100 EMS, nursing, or allied health personnel to undertake the task of casual Community Tester. According to the news site, the job only requires the applicant to be able to perform a throat or nasal pharyngeal swab on all ages groups both symptomatic and asymptomatic. Demand for the testing is experiencing an upswing with the onset of the fall. On Thursday, the province did 14,678 tests while overall 1,365,496 have been done on 1,030,261 Albertans. Delays in results due to the autodialer system have also been experienced.
