** London Ambulance Service in UK does mass response to Catholic school after several pupils sickened by potentially tainted candy; police investigating

** Five separate ambulances and support vehicles were dispatched to a London Catholic school today, after 13 teenage girls at La Sainte Union took ill following the consumption of some candy. The Daily Mail (James Gant/October 5) said the mass response took place around 11:44 a.m. According to the newspaper, the ambulances were accompanied by a clinical team leader, car medics, and incident response officers. A spokesman for the ambulance service did not comment on exactly what caused the girls to become ill. Police have been dispatched to the site and are investigating. No one has been arrested and the school was not evacuated. There is no word on the girls’ condition.
