** London Ambulance Service in UK employing anti-violence officers to stem assaults against EMS personnel

** In the face of rising lockdown assaults on EMS personnel, the London Ambulance Service is now employing anti-violence officers. That is the word from the BBC (September 10) which said the new staff will liaise between police and medics to bring cases to court. According to the news site, 260 such incidents were recorded from April 1st – August 31st of this year. The infractions included head-butting, punching, kicking, and biting. Non-violent attacks during this period totaled 380 and included urinating on ambulances, weapons threats, and verbal abuse. In 2019 there were 625 reported physical assaults and 713 non-physical assaults.
