** Louisiana paramedic gains community support as 6,000 sign petition calling for his reinstatement after firing over memes

UNITED STATES NEWS

** Little more than a week after a Lafayette, Louisiana paramedic was fired for allegedly sharing offensive social media memes, some 6,000 people have signed a petition asking for his reinstatement. That is the word from KLFY (July 1) which said the online sign-up in support of Jamie Bergeron is located at change.org. According to the news site, the petitions says Bergeron was fired over a joke which was not meant to be racially offensive. Saying Bergeron is a good EMT who seeks to save all lives, the write-up on the petition said Bergeron is also selfless and has even saved lives while performing with his band when audience members have become ill. The petition can be viewed here: https://www.change.org/p/acadian-ambulance-acadian-ambulance-hire-jamie-bergeron-back-westandwithjamie?utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=custom_url&recruited_by_id=3657c670-cbfa-012f-6940-4040acce234c

So far, there has been no response from Bergeron’s former employer Acadian Ambulance.
