** Washington D.C. paramedic/firefighters, previously infected with COVID-19, now donating their plasma to research study

UNITED STATES NEWS

** In an effort to assist others suffering from COVID-19, a group of Washington D.C. paramedic/firefighters who have recovered from coronavirus  are donating their plasma to area researchers. That is the word from Fox 5 DC (Evan Lambert/July 3) which said the antibody rich substance will be directed towards a study conducted at Medstar Washington Hospital. Doctors are hoping to use the plasma to amp up the immune systems of those currently battling the virus. The study, which is part of a larger look-see being done by the Mayo Clinic, has shown promising results. Nurse Emily Fischer said when the plasma is given earlier in the disease course, sufferers see reduced severity and shorter hospitalizations. There is no word on when final study results will be published.
