** UK medics in Manchester subject to increasing assaults during pandemic

UNITED KINGDOM NEWS

** EMS medics in Manchester, as well as other emergency workers, are apparently seeing an upswing in assaults being directed against them. That is the word from The Bolton News (Lyell Tweed/May 14) which said between March 23rd and May 13th, police noted 170 such attacks against law enforcement, EMS, and fire. According to the newspaper, several of the incidents will likely see incarceration as punishment. North West Ambulance Service Director of Operations Ged Blezard said the onslaughts are particularly galling and intolerable, given that medics are working flat out to deal with the coronavirus crisis. Blezard said while most people have been wonderful to staff during the pandemic, staff have also faced violent attacks.
