** New South Wales medics in Australia urge state government to declare emergency

AUSTRALIA NEWS

** In an effort to ensure the availability of adequate medical supplies, staff,  and equipment during the coronavirus pandemic, New South Wales paramedics are calling on the state government to declare a state of emergency. That is the word from ABC News (March 26) which quoted Australian Paramedics Association NSW branch Acting Secretary Liu Bianchi as saying ever rising call volumes are becoming problematic. With help hail surges last Friday being tantamount to New Year’s Eve, she said more staff and personal protective equipment (PPE) are desperately needed. Bianchi also said inadequate PPE and incomplete or absent coronavirus disclosure by many 000 callers may result in medics getting sick. New South Wales has been the state hardest hit by coronavirus to date. Pundits have said all 874 intensive care beds could be filled by mid-April
