** Trial for two Ontario paramedics, accused in connection with Good Samaritan death,  postponed till November

CANADA NEWS

** A pair of Ontario paramedics from Hamilton, charged in connection with the death of a Good Samaritan, will now not go on trial until November 24th of this year. That is the word from CBC (Samantha Craggs/January 27) which said the trial, which was originally set to begin this month, was postponed until April. It was then moved to November to ensure that both the judge and defence lawyers were available. Steven Snively and Christopher Marchant are charged with failing to provide the necessities of life for Yosif Al-Hasnawi on December 2, 2017. Al-Hasnawi was shot in the abdomen after intervening to defend an old man being harassed by two other men outside a mosque. Several witnesses alleged the paramedics mocked al-Hasnawi, accusing him of exaggerating his wound. One of the men charged with killing Al-Hasnawi, meanwhile, was acquitted of second-degree murder in 2019 after he pleaded self defence.
