** Welsh Ambulance Service considering body cams to help prevent attacks on staff

UNITED KINGDOM NEWS

** In what is proving to be a rising trend in EMS, Welsh Ambulance Service medics are considering using body cams to stem violence against prehospital practitioners. Wales Online (Mark Smith/November 5) quoted EMS director of operations Lee Brooks as making the comment at the same time as he publicly urged residents to treat prehospital staff with kindness over the winter. Smith said despite new laws passing earlier this year to stiffen penalties for those who attack paramedics, the period from April to June still recorded 100 assaults against emergency medical providers. He said body cameras, while not immediately stopping the violence, would collect evidence against offenders.
