** Trial for Tennessee Army medic accused of raping, murdering infant daughter delayed

** Tennessee court officials have delayed the trial of a US Army medic accused of raping and killing his nine-month-old daughter two years ago until next year. WVLT (November 18) said proceedings against Fort Campbell practitioner Chris Conway were to have begun yesterday. According to the news site, the delay is due to a dispute between the prosecution and the defence over forensic evidence. The new trial date is set for September 2020. Although Conway apparently initially denied harming his daughter, police say he later confessed to raping her and tying a rope around her neck to silence her. His family, meanwhile, is standing by him, saying the confession was coerced and the girl inadvertently died after the dehumidifier cord became wrapped around her neck.
