** US Air Force paramedic killed in training exercise in Idaho

UNITED STATES NEWS

** A Virginia military medic has died after succumbing to injuries incurred during a mountain training exercise Tuesday in Idaho. That is the word from The Stars and Stripes (Corey Dickstein/October 10) which said US Air Force Tech. Sgt. Peter Kraines, 33, apparently died after falling 40 feet at Black Cliffs just outside Boise. Kraines, who served with the 24th Special Operations Wing out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, was a special tactics pararescueman. Along with being a paramedic, his training involved locating, recovering, and treating injured soldiers in the field and behind enemy lines. A spokesman for the Ada County Sheriff’s Office said initial information indicates his death may have resulted from an equipment problem. Along with the police, the US Air Force is also investigating.
