** California EMT goes missing during hiking trip

** California authorities in Trinity County continue to search for an EMT who went missing Wednesday in the Trinity Alps. KRCTV (Nazy Javid/August 16) said police were notified of the disappearance of Daniel Komins, 34, when he failed to return from a five day hiking trip. According to the news site, Komins went alone on the jaunt which began August 10th. He made a phone call to his girlfriend the following day, but has not been heard from since. Komins’ vehicle was found empty at the trailhead. Search and rescue efforts using choppers, ground teams, and ATVs began Thursday. Police say they have not been able to get a signal on his GPS or cell phone as of yet.
