** Female Australian paramedic attacked by patient in back of ambulance

** A female Newcastle, New South Wales medic is recovering after being punched in the ribs by a combative patient Monday. That is the word from 873 AM (Ray Hadley/April 23) which said the assault occurred just north of Sydney. According to the news site, medics were transporting the patient, 32, to hospital when the man started abusing the female provider in back. He then knocked her over after hitting her in the ribs. Police later arrested the man and released him on conditional bail with a court date set for next month. However, in light of the aggressiveness of the attack, authorities said they are reviewing the decision to bail him.
