** Alabama politicians strive to make murdering on-duty EMTs/paramedics a death penalty offence

UNITED STATES NEWS

** Alabama individuals convicted of murdering on-duty EMTs or paramedics could soon face the death penalty as punishment. That is the word from WAAY 31 (Steven Dilsizian/April 19) which said a proposed bill making the action a capital offence has now passed through the state’s House of Representatives. According to the news site, current death penalty provisions for attacks against emergency responders only pertain to police officers and prison guards. The bill will now head to the Senate for approval. A similar bill which got sent to the Senate last year failed to make it to a vote before the end of the session.
