** Former Michigan EMT/firefighter killed in shootout with police

UNITED STATES NEWS

** Michigan police in Kalamazoo shot and killed a former EMT/firefighter Tuesday morning after he lured them to a building and opened fire. That is the word from WOOD TV (March 12) which said Brandon Stacey, 31, who previously worked for Life EMS, had also toiled as a firefighter in Parchment. According to the news site, police were initially called to the Biomat USA Plasma Center around 11:30 a.m. after reports of an active shooter. Once on-scene, officers returned fire for about three minutes, though family members claim Stacey was not the first one to shoot. One officer escaped serious injury after several bullets were stopped by his flak jacket. Stacey died at the scene. Police say he was armed with only a handgun. The motive for his actions remains unknown. He leaves behind a wife and young daughter.
