** Detroit EMS fires crew who declined to perform CPR on dying patient

UNITED STATES NEWS

** Michigan EMS authorities in Detroit have fired an EMS crew that allegedly refused to perform CPR on a dying patient. WDIV (Shawn Ley/March 13) said the January 4th call played out after Patrick Clemons, 30, collapsed at home with chest pains and shortness of breath. Clemons’ mother said although the prehospital crew arrived on-scene relatively promptly, they did not help him off the floor or onto the stretcher. Once inside the EMS unit, they also apparently did not perform CPR while en route to hospital. Clemons died shortly afterwards. The unidentified providers were fired following an internal investigation. Both have denied the accusations.
