** California man sentenced to 25 years in jail for murdering Oakland paramedic

UNITED STATES NEWS

** A California man in Oakland has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for the April 2, 2013 murder of paramedic Quinn Boyer, 34. That is the word from the East Bay Times (Angela Ruggiero/March 24) which said Christian Burton, 22, was convicted last October of murder, with the special circumstance of it occurring during the commission of a carjacking. According to the newspaper, Burton did not react to the sentence given for a crime committed when he was 16-years-old. Boyer died while stopped at a stop light when two teens got out of their car, approached him, and tried to rob him. When Boyer did not comply, prosecutors says Burton shot Boyer. Four other teens were also in the vehicle. Later information would indicate the group of youths had been involved in a two day crime spree by the time they set upon the paramedic. Burton’s conviction, meanwhile, comes after a 2015 mistrial.
