** Queensland authorities in Australia identify medic killed in Monday ambulance crash

AUSTRALIA NEWS

** EMS Officials in Queensland have now identified a paramedic killed in an ambulance crash Monday morning as Craig McCulloch, 32. The Brisbane Times (Toby Crockford/January 29) said McCulloch, who had worked over a decade in EMS, had previously served in London, the Gold Coast, and in areas around Mackay. His current position saw him staying with an aunt and uncle in Mackay before returning to his family on the Gold Coast. McCulloch, who was described as a wonderful friend and father, left a wife and two young children behind. A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said he believes McCulloch’s death was the first time a paramedic with the service had perished while responding to a Code 1 emergency. Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, meanwhile, offered her condolences to McCulloch’s family and colleagues. She also said an investigation will now begin into exactly how the accident happened.
