** Pennsylvania paramedic sentenced to 6 months in jail for fatal ambulance/car crash

** A Berks County, Pennsylvania paramedic has been sentenced to six months in jail for an October 7, 2016 ambulance crash that killed an EMS passenger as well as the driver of another car. Lancaster Online (Lindsey Blest/January 15) said Jeffrey R. Gable, 22, expressed remorse at his court appearance Monday, saying he never intended to hurt anyone. According to the newspaper, Gable was behind the wheel of a transport EMS unit when he crossed the center line, colliding with a car head on. The car’s driver, Jason Oswald 43, died in the mishap as did Gable’s patient Doris Waltz, 60. Police charged him with vehicular homicide but the charge was downgraded to manslaughter under a plea deal. Gable also admitted to aggravated assault by a vehicle, recklessly endangering another person x 2, and two traffic violations. Along with the above mentioned sentence, Gable will be on probation for 8 years and will be eligible for work release.
