** Alberta police in Calgary arrest man for hitting medic at MVA scene

CANADA NEWS

** Alberta police in Calgary have charged a 69-year-old man with hitting an on-duty paramedic at an MVA scene Monday. Ponoka News (Jordie Dwyer/January 23) said Kenneth Muraweski has been tagged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident that involved bodily harm as a result of the incident. According to the newspaper, Muraweski was behind the wheel of his Mercedes-Benz around 9 p.m. when he hit the medic who was loading a patient into the ambulance at the time. Witnesses said the car slowed at first before accelerating as it attempted to pass the lit up EMS unit. Police say Muraweski immediately fled the scene after the accident. He was located shortly afterwards at a nearby home. The paramedic, meanwhile, continues to recover from undisclosed, but non life threatening injuries.
