** Pennsylvania EMS service using different painkiller in field to treat patients

UNITED STATES NEWS

** The ongoing overdose crisis in Pennsylvania has prompted one service to use a non opioid painkiller for patients. That is the word from ABC 27 (Logan Wilson/June 1) which said Susquehanna Township EMS is now employing Toradol instead of morphine or fentanyl. Toradol, which is not addictive, is more effective and has fewer side effects than the other medications. Department Capt. Daniel Tempel said the new approach will not only treat pain in addicted patients, but will prevent patients in general from being exposed to opioids. The new med will be on the trucks July 1st.
