** Body of Canadian military medic to be returned for burial in native Zambia; father withdraws from court battle to bury daughter here

CANADA NEWS

** The body of a Canadian military medic, who died while skydiving in August, has finally been shipped back to her native Zambia. That is the word from The Ottawa Citizen (Aedan Helmer/October 22) which said the remains of Betiana “Betty” Mubili, 29, were returned to Africa against her father’s wishes. Viktor Mubili of Mississauga, Ontario said Betty would have wanted her remains to stay in her adopted country. According to the news service, Mubili died August 27th in Petawawa. A legal battle ensued immediately afterwards with Betty’s aunt and three half-sisters fighting to have her buried in Zambia. Viktor, who was estranged from his daughter at the time of her death, said he has been kept in the dark about where her actual grave will be.
