** A Dublin EMS crew had to take cover inside a patient’s house Sunday after a mob brandishing baseball bats and clubs attempted to assault their patient. The Irish Mirror (Barry Arnold/November 7) said the 8:30 a.m. incident in Blanchardtown played out with medics barricading themselves inside the premises, while members of the gang stole the ambulance. According to the newspaper, the prehospital unit was retrieved a short distance away. It was taken out of service for several hours as a result. Garda police said no one was injured in the fracas, and no arrests have been made. Authorities continue to investigate.

** Mississippi authorities in Jackson are investigating after a Sunday incident in which an unknown gunman fired on an ambulance. WJTY (Malary Pullen/November 6) said the 9:50 p.m. shooting involved an American Medical Response EMS unit that was enroute to a call. Police spokesman Commander Tyree Jones said no was injured in the incident. The matter remains under investigation.
