** Pennsylvania police in McKeesport have arrested an area EMT on child sex crimes. WDXI (September 21) said Andrew Demeri, 24, was taken into custody Tuesday. According to the news site, Demeri has been charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, and indecent exposure. Demeri, who works for a Washington County ambulance service, apparently did not commit the offences while on-duty. He currently remains in the Allegheny County jail pending the posting of a $100,000 bond.
** An Indiana paramedic from Greene County was arrested Wednesday on child sex charges. WTHI TV (Chris Essex/September 21) said Worthington resident Nicholas Powell has been tagged with child solicitation and dissemination of material harmful to a minor. According to the newspaper, Powell works for IU Health. No other details as to the particulars of his alleged crimes have yet been released.
