** Oklahoma paramedic and her sister killed in weekend head-on crash

** A French backpacker, accused of pulling a female Queensland paramedic from her ambulance and attacking her Wednesday, has been released on bail. That is the word from The Brisbane Times (September 29) which said Timothy Leon Laurent Rousselle, 21, has had his case adjourned until October 20th. According to the newspaper, Rousselle is charged with seriously assaulting a public officer. He allegedly punched the female paramedic in the face outside a Cairns hostel, at the same time as dragging her out the side door of the EMS unit. The motive for the attack remains unknown.

** First-degree manslaughter charges are likely pending against an Oklahoma man who killed a paramedic and her sister in a head-on crash this past weekend. KFOR (September 27) said Antlers police arrested Shawn Jones, 33, at the scene of the collision. Police told reporters Jones was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol. Killed in the crash was Antlers EMS paramedic Brooke Trotter, 34, and her nurse sister Becky Trotter, 29. The pair’s mother is recovering in hospital. Funeral services for the two sisters are pending.
