** New Jersey EMT charged with sexual assault

** UK man given nearly two years in jail for sexually assaulting female paramedic

** Police in Sayerville, New Jersey have charged an EMT with sexual assault in relation to an August 17th attack on a child under the age of 16. Greater Media News (August 19) said Christopher P. McHugh, 21, was also tagged with endangering the welfare of a child. According to the newspaper, McHugh allegedly met his victim via Facebook. At the time of his arrest, he was wearing a Morgan First Aid Squad shirt. Details of the incident have not been released. McHugh, who works full time for Edison’s Stress Free Medical Transportation service, volunteers with the Morgan squad. Police continue to investigate.

** A Bradford man has been sentenced to 18 months in jail after being convicted of sexually assaulting a female paramedic March 7th. The Telegraph (Vivien Mason/August 20) said Hydale Court resident Donald McKean, 53, was also handed an extra 21 months of detention for public order offences. According to the newspaper, McKean touched the medic’s leg and breast during a transport to Bradford Royal Infirmary. The medic, who had worked EMS for 14 years at the time of the incident, has not yet returned to work. McKean pleaded guilty to the misconduct which caps off a lengthy police record. Among the 149 charges he has racked up, McKean has been convicted of 92. Most of these involved crank and threatening phone calls to the ambulance service, police, and probation officers. Along with the above mentioned sentence, McKean will also be on the registered sex offenders’ list for 10 years. He will additionally have a criminal behaviour order in place for seven years once out of jail.
