** Memorial service set for murdered Alabama EMT

** Kentucky EMT sues deputy sheriff for false imprisonment

UNITED STATES NEWS

** Thursday is the day set for a memorial service for an Alabama EMT allegedly killed Monday by her husband. WAAY TV (Patrick Ary/June 29) said the service for Ashley Lynn Scott, 25, will be held at Rainsville’s W.T. Wilson Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Scott was fatally shot while at home in her apartment in the early morning hours. Her husband Gregory Bradford Scott, 27, has been charged with murder. He remains in jail pending the posting of a $1M bond. Both Scotts worked as EMTs for DeKalb Ambulance Service in Fort Payne.

** A Kentucky medic has launched a lawsuit against a deputy sheriff who owns a competing ambulance company, contending the man harassed him by pulling him over while transporting a dialysis patient. US News & World Report (Steven Nelson/June 29) said Jason Crigger, who works for Arrow-Med Ambulance in Jackson, is claiming false imprisonment after he was detained for five minutes by Sheriff Deputy Darrell Steve McIntosh. McIntosh owns McIntosh Ambulance. Crigger said the traffic stop also included verbal abuse from McIntosh. The confrontation is just the latest in a long line. Both companies have longstanding lawsuits pending against each other. Crigger’s lawyer Ned Pillersdorf said McIntosh’s actions constitute a human rights violation because he used his authority to illegally detain Crigger. The incident was apparently recorded with some footage posted on the Internet. McIntosh and his attorney declined to comment on the matter.
