** North Carolina stabbing victim charged with assaulting EMT; his assailant escapes charges

UNITED STATES NEWS

** The man who stabbed a North Carolina friend during an altercation Monday will not be charged but his victim will be tagged with assaulting an EMT trying to help him. That is the word from the Wilkes Journal-Patriot (June 22) which said authorities plan to hit Traphill resident Ricky Bryce Billings, 47, with the legal book when he gets out of hospital. According to the newspaper, police said he will now face felonious assault charges, as well as one for physically injuring an emergency person. Billings was stabbed with a pocket knife by a friend at a birthday party. The friend told police he acted in self defence. Once EMS arrived on-scene, Billings remained combative, hauling off and hitting female paramedic Amber Wood in the eye. A hospital spokesman said Billings was released late last week.
