** A Mishawaka, Indiana paramedic has been charged with theft x 2 for allegedly pretending to be sick with cancer to obtain money from fellow emergency personnel. That is the word from the Associated Press (May 10) which said Sam R. Young, 50, was arrested Sunday. According to the newspaper, Young apparently asked for loans from police and fire responders, repaying them with bad cheques or not at all. One police officer lost $1,000 in the scheme, while a firefighter was taken for around $800. A spokesman for the city said Young is now on indefinite suspension, pending the outcome of the case.
