** A Nova Scotia paramedic, already on the hook for child luring and making sexually explicit material available to a child, has now been tagged with child porn offences as well. That is the word from Metro News (April 11) which Todd Allen Sawler, 44, was arrested Friday and charged with child porn possession and distribution. In addition, tags for accessing child porn, sexual assault, and making arrangements to commit a sexual offence against a child have also been thrown into the mix. Sawler was initially arrested in January on the first set of charges. Police say they continue to investigate allegations against him. In the meantime, he remains in jail. Results of a Monday hearing were not available at press time.

** A former New Zealand paramedic will serve 9 years behind bars for sexually abusing a young Queensland girl over six years. That is the word from The Otago Daily Times (April 11) which said Dean Peter Crump, 63, pleaded guilty to the crime and will be eligible for parole in 2021. Following the conclusion of his trial, however, four other people have launched similar allegations against him. According to the newspaper, Crump is the step-son of well known author Barry Crump. Crump worked EMS in New Zealand for St. John Ambulance, as well as for the Auckland based medevac service. He also worked as a private security team medic in Iraq in 2004.
